Given that it’s Women’s History Month, what better way to celebrate than to honor female entrepreneurs who have paved the way for other women in the business world?
We’re thrilled to announce that our CEO, Nellie Akalp, was recently awarded Woman Business Owner of the Year by the National Association of Women Business Owners Ventura County chapter. This honor is bestowed to one noteworthy female entrepreneur in the Ventura County area annually at the BRAVO Awards.
A Deserving Winner
The Ventura County chapter of NAWBO chose Nellie because of her hard work and dedication to helping business owners, as well as the fact that she has worked diligently to spread her business to all 50 states. To date, she has helped more than 100,000 businesses form corporations or LLCs in the US.
Nellie, the daughter of immigrants from Iran, grew up witnessing the tremendous amount of hard work that entrepreneurship requires, as well as the gratifying reward of creating something from nothing.
By the time she and her husband Phil started CorpNet in 2009, Nellie had a full resume of entrepreneurial experience: she had already worked in her grandparents’ many businesses growing up, and then launched and sold her first business filing company to Intuit in 2005. It’s clear that Nellie is not shy about digging in and rolling up her sleeves to get the job done.
“For me, entrepreneurship is the only way of life,” says Nellie, “I can’t imagine working for someone else when being a business owner is one of the most satisfying things in my life, next to being a wife and mother.”
Nellie, along with the other 2016 NAWBO awardees, will be honored at a gala luncheon April 1 at the Serra Center in Camarillo, California. Purchase tickets to attend BRAVO 2016 here.
