5 Reasons the Risk of Entrepreneurship is So Worth It

If I had to summarize my personal brand in one word, it would be “passionate.” I’m passionate about running CorpNet, and that’s what keeps me going even through the rocky times. But what about you? If you’re just now considering starting a business, you may wonder if all the stress, tears, money, and long hours will be worth it.

Let me say in no uncertain terms: absolutely.

There is nothing that I have ever done — except give birth and raise four amazing children — that has ever been so fulfilling mentally, emotionally, and financially. Here are my reasons why entrepreneurship is worth it.

1. The Reward is Greater Than the Risk

Whether you’re talking about making more money than you did when you were an employee,  the fact that you can pick your kids up after school, or your ability to make a difference, all of these count as rewards. When you set goals for what you want to achieve with your business, you can quickly see the rewards outweigh the risks.

2. You Get to Be Creative

Creativity abounds for entrepreneurs: in the products you develop, how you approach your marketing, even in your company name. You might have felt stifled working for someone else, but now you can let your creative flag fly! Use it to be your story and your brand.

3. You Feed Your Passion

Just like me, you’re passionate about something. Imagine being surrounded by that something every day! I guarantee you won’t drag your feet to go to work when you genuinely love what you do.

4. Others Rely On You (And That Feels Great)

When you start building your team of employees, you realize they rely on you for their livelihood, but also to guide them as a leader. It feels pretty great to be co-captain of USS CorpNet, and I take that responsibility very seriously.

5. You’re Built For It

There’s a reason you’re thinking about starting a business. There’s something in your DNA that craves creating something from nothing and building a business around your passion. Trying to deny it is like a mermaid trying to live on land. Give into your desire and make something great!

Yes, there are a lot of risks in starting a business. There’s no guarantee it will even work, but if you’re dedicated to it, it will thrive. What reasons keep you going?
